Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a fishing license to fish on a chartered boat?

Yes, a valid Louisiana fishing license is necessary. A 3 day out-of-state fishing license can be purchased when fishing with a licensed guide. Look for the RS/NR Char Pass 3 Day license for $10. This can be taken care of ahead of time or at the dock. Louisiana fishing licenses can be purchased online here.

What do I need to bring?

You will need to bring a fishing rod for each person, some rain gear (just in case), sun block, sunglasses, beer (if you would like), something to eat for lunch (we can provide this for an extra $35) and your lucky hat. You’ll also want to bring a cooler, to bring home all of the fish.

What kind of fish can I expect to catch on Calcasieu Lake?

The most sought after game fish that you can expect to catch on Calcasieu Lake are Redfish, Speckled Trout and Flounder.

How many fish can I keep?

On Calcasieu Lake, each individual is allowed 15 Speckled Trout over 12″, 5 Redfish over 16″ and one Redfish over 27″ in length per day.

What time do we leave in the morning?

Getting out on the lake early is key when it comes to any type of fishing. We like to leave just before sunrise, but other arrangements can be made.
